Stratená
Picturesque mountain village in the southern part of the Slovak Paradise under the Sokolie skaly hills, first mentioned in writing in 1723. Originally a mining settlement in which the Csáky family built in 1783 a blast furnace. Remains of it – later on of the Coburg’s smeltery – now serves as an accommodation facility (Pension Šafran).
MONUMENTS: the Neo-Gothic Roman-Catholic Church of St. Augustine from 1909 with a statue of Mary Magdalene (from the early 16th century) made by Master Pavol from Levoča
ATTRACTIONS: the Stratenský road tunnel (327 m long) with the hiking trail through the Stratenský kaňon canyon leading around it. On the educational trail JUH (the SOUTH) under the Havrania skala hill, there are the unique Občasný prameň spring and the remains of charcoal kiln used for charcoal burning. In the local part of Stratená called Dobšinská Ľadová Jaskyňa, there are an ice cave of the same name (the only UNESCO site in the Slovak Paradise), other interesting educational trails, a ranch and a high rope park.
